Who Are You Going To Believe?

I just read a post on Facebook where a man was trying to prove that Jesus never taught about hell. It was a very lengthy post filled with many Bible verses and in the comment section below, there were so many people expressing approval or disagreement with the content of his post. Some of the comments that grabbed my attention dealt with questions like "Who told you that?" or "Where did you get that idea from?". As I read through the comments, I recognized truth in some responses and error in others. And if you are not careful, you can easily be misled by something you hear or see on Facebook.
So I ask you... Who are you going to believe? God or man? We are to take everything we see and hear straight to the Bible and see if it matches up. Acts 17:11 (ESV) — 11 Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so. This is what we are supposed to do because some preachers may say something that you didn't understand or maybe they said something incorrectly. God's Word is the only consistent source of truth and we must be good students of His Word.
So no matter who you are listening to, always check the accuracy of what you heard with the Word of God. I tell our congregation all of the time "Do not believe this because I said it. Believe it because God said it and you see it right here in the text."
