What Kindly Keyin Proves About Church

Our grandson spent the night with us this weekend and before he went to bed, he asked if we could watch a video together. I told him that it was fine and then asked him what he wanted to watch. What did he pick? Kindly Keyin. For those of you who do not know who this man is, he plays video games on youtube. So if you are watching his videos, you are not playing the video games... he is. You are watching him play the games. Do you see where I am going with this?

How many people have decided to watch church online or on the TV instead of actually gathering with the church? This idea is fine as a supplement but not as the only plan of action. When Paul wanted Timothy to prepare for his time in ministry, what did Paul tell him to do in 1 Timothy 4:13? "Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation, to teaching." Paul didn't say "watch somebody else worship", he said "you go to worship and hear God's Word with other believers gathered around you."

The writer of Hebrews wrote these words in Hebrews 10:24–25 "And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near." How can we stir up one another if we are not gathered with one another?

If you have spent any time at all in the New Testament, you know it is full of "one another's" such as "love one another" (John 13:34), "Outdo one another in showing honor" (Romans 12:10), "welcome one another" (Romans 15:7), "instruct one another" (Romans 15:14), "comfort one another" and "agree with one another" (2 Corinthians 13:11), "serve one another" (Galatians 5:13) and so much more. How can we do these actions if we are not gathered with "one another"?

So please gather with your church family on a weekly basis and if you do not have a church family, look for one. You need them and they need you.
