[Matthew 5:8 NASB95] 8 "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”

To be pure is to be untainted and unpolluted. To be pure in heart is to have pure desires that drive your decisions and choices. Let us understand first of all that we are born into iniquity and sin, even at conception. “Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me.” [Psalm 51:5] Why is this? Because, through the disobedience of one man, Adam, we have all inherited his sinful nature. “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned—” [Romans 5:12] And still further, we must understand that our hearts are sick and deceptive, playing tricks on us, “The heart is more deceitful than all else And is desperately sick; Who can understand it?” [Jeremiah 17:9]

So, where is the hope?

How can I ever be pure in heart?

This all sounds very dark and bleak and hopeless. And indeed, it is without the person and work of JESUS CHRIST our LORD!

Through Adam came death, but through Christ comes life!

“For if by the transgression of the one (Adam), death reigned through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ. 18 So then as through one transgression there resulted condemnation to all men, even so through one act of righteousness there resulted justification of life to all men. 19 For as through the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous.” [Romans 5:17-19]

By God’s grace we have been granted repentance and faith in Christ and adopted into the family of GOD. The old person we were before Christ has been put to death and we are made new to walk in the likeness and character of Christ! (See Ephesians 4:17-24)

So, if there is anything good within ourselves it is to the praise of Jesus Christ. If the world sees the good in me then it is only Christ working through me. All praise, honor and glory to the Messiah, the Anointed One who has taken our sin and given us His righteousness!

Brother and sister in Christ, blessed are the pure in heart for they will behold GOD!
